On Sunday, November 9 at 3 pm, join teams from all over South Florida to pay tribute to all of those who sacrifice so much for our freedom at “Walk a Mile in their Boots” on Key Biscayne.
The first 50 teams to register will be guaranteed a pair of war-torn combat boots to physically use during the walk. The walk is one mile (laps around the Village Green), located in the heart of Key Biscayne at 400 Crandon Boulevard. During and after the walk, enjoy live entertainment on the stage including sets from DJ’s, singing and dance groups, Gablettes, marching bands, and so much more. Hear inspirational double-amputee Cedric King who recently ran the Boston Marathon. Also hear the incredible story of the only Cantor Fitzgerald employee to survive the WTC attacks, after 2 years in the hospital recovering. Enjoy food and vendors of all kinds! Try the military obstacle course, have the kids bounce in the bounce house, explore the military vehicles, and much, much, more.
TEAMS OF UP TO 6 PEOPLE ARE $50 (100% goes to support the troops) BY THE EARLY REGISTRATION DEADLINE OF OCTOBER 15 (higher at the event).
All teams are encouraged to be creative with their dress, as there is a team prize for the most patriotic!! We also encourage kids that are participating to try and raise more money for the walk by collecting pledge money from friends, family and neighbors for completing the walk. That money should be brought to the event and presented at registration. That is not required, just another way to help kids connect to the true meaning of Veteran’s Day and the importance of showing our troops that we have not forgotten them and recognize their sacrifices and the sacrifices of their families. Families, schools, churches, boy/girlscouts, kids sports teams, etc. are all encouraged to participate!
Register online by clicking the button below, or you can mail a check for $50/team (check payable to “iPads for Soldiers Foundation”) to 259
Buttonwood Drive, Key Biscayne, FL 33149 by October 15. Mailed registrations should include a Team Name, Contact Name, Contact Phone and
Email address. We will email additional info to those who have registered as the walk approaches.
